Not every veteran qualifies for VA healthcare, and waiting times can be long. FQHCs serve veterans regardless of VA enrollment, on a sliding fee scale. Many work directly with the VA Community Care program to coordinate covered services for eligible veterans.
Veterans waiting for VA enrollment, or those who don't qualify, can access primary care, dental, pharmacy, and behavioral health services at FQHCs. Some FQHCs are designated VA Community Care providers, meaning the VA may reimburse care for eligible veterans.
