Connecting veterans in the digital age
DAV membership strengthens and propels our organization, with members and volunteers powering our advocacy and the myriad services we provide for ill and injured veterans.
To connect with veterans and their families in new, dynamic ways, DAV members and advocates are harnessing the power of Twitch to stream gameplay while educating viewers about DAV programs and services.
For many veterans, gaming offers more than entertainment. It can provide structure, camaraderie and a sense of belonging—things that are often difficult to replicate after leaving military service. Online communities built around shared interests can help bridge that gap.
Our Twitch channel offers a diverse lineup, including veterans news; critical legislative updates; and exclusive interviews with lawmakers, policymakers and subject matter experts.
During our community gaming streams, DAV members take the lead, playing their favorite games while connecting with a vast online audience, many of whom are new to DAV’s mission.
Last fall, DAV announced a partnership with REGIMENT, the largest online military gaming community, whose mission is to unite veterans and service members through the power of gaming.
REGIMENT has built a community on Discord, an online communication tool that includes channels specific to the different military branches; channels for resume assistance; and a new channel, VA Help, where veterans can get help with their disability claims.
The channels allow veterans from all over the world to talk about their interests, play video games together and build a community unlike any other.
Through this partnership, veterans and their families have access to holistic support, combining REGIMENT’s focus on mental health and social connection through gaming with DAV’s critical benefits assistance and advocacy.
We have also partnered with REGIMENT to give one lucky veteran the chance to win a $5,000 gaming PC. When veterans sign up, connect their social media accounts and complete tasks, they earn entries into the raffle. Keep an eye on our social media channels for announcements about the upcoming giveaway.
Our goal is simple: Ensure no veteran is left behind in the digital age. Whether veterans connect with DAV through a service office, a local chapter or an online gaming community, what matters most is that they know support is available and that they remain part of a strong and enduring veteran community.
