Marines to get new anti-drone round for M4 and M27 rifles
The Marine Corps is acquiring a new type of ammunition to combat small drones. This ammunition can be fired from M4 carbines and M27 Infantry Automatic Rifles. It is designed to increase the chances of hitting small drones by separating into multiple projectiles after being fired.
The Marine Corps has purchased 400,000 rounds so far, with plans to buy an additional 1 million in fiscal year 2027. Deliveries of the cartridges to ammunition supply points have begun and are expected to be completed in September.
