Navy redesignates Information Professionals as ‘Communications Systems Warfare Officers’
A change has been made to the title of sailors serving in certain roles in the Navy. Those in the 182X designator are now referred to as Communications Systems Warfare Officers. This change is effective immediately, according to a recent Naval Administrative Notice.
The move is described as a direct warfighting imperative. The previous title of Information Professional was deemed no longer suitable for the community's role in managing the digital environment and providing a maritime information advantage. Further details on this change can be found in the Naval Administrative Notice, which was released on July 25.
