The Native American Direct Loan and one Veteran’s journey to stability

𝕏 in f WA

The Department of Veterans Affairs is recognizing women Veterans during Women's History Month. One such Veteran is Lakeishia, a Native American who served in the Army. She grew up on the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians reservation in Mississippi before joining the military.

Lakeishia completed her training in Missouri and Texas, and later worked with soldiers from allied nations while stationed in Germany. Her role as a Patriot missile operator required technical expertise and leadership. Despite facing adversity, including racism and sexism, Lakeishia persevered.

Further details about Lakeishia's journey and experiences are available from the VA. The department is honoring her service and resilience, along with that of other women Veterans, during Women's History Month.
