The ‘Old Guard’ marks centennial of watching over Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
Arlington National Cemetery is home to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a site that has been in place for over 100 years. Initially, the tomb was not guarded after the soldier's internment in 1921. The burial site was treated as a tourist attraction until concerns over lack of respect led to the posting of an armed military guard.
