‘One-in-a-million’ malfunction caused Marine artillery round to explode over highway, report finds
A malfunction in an artillery round caused it to explode prematurely during a live-fire demonstration at Camp Pendleton. The incident occurred last fall and resulted in shrapnel falling onto a nearby civilian highway, Interstate 5.
