West Virginia's Disabled Veteran Real Property Tax Credit gives honorably discharged veterans rated 90-100% permanently and totally disabled (and eligible surviving spouses) a refundable state income tax credit equal to the property taxes timely paid on their homestead. First claimable on 2024 West Virginia income tax returns; veterans who owe little or no state income tax can claim the amount as a refund.
West Virginia fully exempts military retirement income from state income tax with no dollar cap, covering retirement pay from the regular Armed Forces, Reserves, and National Guard, including survivorship annuities.
