Property tax exemption
Wisconsin's Veterans and Surviving Spouses Property Tax Credit is a refundable state income tax credit equal to 100% of property taxes paid on a primary residence and up to one acre of land. It is available to Wisconsin-resident veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rating (or 100% rate based on individual unemployability) and to unremarried surviving spouses, with eligibility certified by the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.
Military retirement pay & state income tax
Wisconsin fully exempts military retirement pay from state income tax, including Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), RCSBP, and RSFPP annuities.
Education benefits
The Wisconsin GI Bill remits full tuition and segregated fees at University of Wisconsin System campuses and Wisconsin technical colleges for up to eight semesters or 128 credits for eligible Wisconsin veterans, and for spouses and children of veterans who died in service, died of service-connected causes, or have at least a 30% service-connected disability rating.
