Under Public Act 24-46, signed in May 2024, veterans with a 100% permanent and total service-connected VA disability rating receive a full property-tax exemption on the dwelling they own and use as their primary residence (or on one motor vehicle if they do not own a home), beginning with the October 1, 2024 assessment year. Veterans apply through their town assessor.
Connecticut fully exempts military retirement pay from state income tax — retirees subtract 100% of it from Connecticut adjusted gross income, with no age or income limits.
Connecticut waives tuition at UConn and the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities for eligible wartime veterans (generally 90 or more cumulative days of wartime active duty and Connecticut residency). The waiver covers tuition on credit courses but not fees, books, or room and board.
